AJ Bell Great North Run - Sunday 8th September 2024

AJ Bell Great North Run 2024

The Great North Run is an iconic half-marathon event that takes place annually in the Northeast of England, attracting participants from around the globe. Established in 1981, it has grown to become one of the world's largest and most beloved races, celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and strong community spirit. The course takes runners from Newcastle upon Tyne, across the iconic Tyne Bridge, through Gateshead - and finishes in the coastal town of South Shields.

With a history spanning over four decades, the Great North Run has seen over a million runners cross the finish line. It's renowned not just for its challenging 13.1-mile distance, but also for the incredible support from local spectators, the enthusiastic charity runners and the elite athletes who compete at the front. The event encapsulates a festival atmosphere with live music and entertainment lining the streets, making it a celebration of both athletic achievement and community spirit.

The inclusivity of the race and the collective goal of supporting charities inspire many to take on the challenge. It's not just a race; it's a mass participation event that unites people from all walks of life in the spirit of philanthropy and personal accomplishment.

Ultra Challenge Series: ‘Walk. Jog. Run’ - dates throughout 2024
Ultra Challenge-2024

The UK Ultra Challenge Series is a collection of endurance events that take place across some of the most scenic and challenging landscapes in the United Kingdom. These events are designed not only for seasoned ultra-distance athletes but also for those new to endurance walking and running, offering a range of distances to suit different levels of fitness and experience.

The series has grown in popularity in recent years, providing a platform for participants to push their physical limits across various terrains and distances - typically ranging from 25 km up to 100 km. The challenges can be completed as walks, jogs, or runs - and participants can choose to tackle them non-stop or break them into stages, making the series very accessible.

The events are fully supported, with regular rest stops, medical teams and route signage - allowing fundraisers to focus 100% on their experience and the cause they represent. There is a spirit of endurance and camaraderie - and a big focus on charity - making it an ideal arena for those looking to fundraise via physical effort and determination.

We know some of our supporters fancy a more individual approach. It might be running a marathon, committing to a daily exercise routine or undertaking a long-distance cycle. Why not choose an activity that resonates with you and aligns with your personal fitness aims? Embarking on a personal challenge offers flexibility and the opportunity to tailor the experience to your own interests and capabilities.

Whatever you choose - whether you sign up for one of our fundraising events or take on a personal goal, we will be here for you every step of the way!

We can help you set up a JustGiving page (a simple and effective online platform for collecting donations), promote your event on our social media channels - and support you in every way we can as you set up, prepare and then blitz your 2024 fundraising challenge!

- A PTSD Resolution t-shirt or running vest will be provided for all participants and/or a wrist band, if you wish.

Let's make 2024 a year of triumphs, both personal and collective. Share your journey, inspire others and create a lasting impact. It’s not just about crossing the finish line—it's about the lives you'll touch as you run, jog, walk, cycle or swim towards it.

We are always adding to our events schedule - so keep an eye on our Fundraising Page for more on how you can get involved.
