Treating Trauma: PTSD Resolution Conference Explores Latest in Therapy

The Victory Services Club

On 14th October, PTSD Resolution will host its annual conference bringing together top therapists and experts in the field of therapy for military trauma. The one-day event provides an opportunity for practitioners to exchange insights, research and experiences in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for forces veterans, their families and others affected.

Founded in 2009, the charity is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists to the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS). It has had over 4,000 referrals to date, and delivers therapy in an average of seven sessions, where the client and therapist agree that no further therapy is required.

Taking place at the Victory Services Club in central London, the conference will feature renowned speakers covering new approaches, trends and results in PTSD treatment and recovery.

Chairman Col Tony Gauvain (Rtd) will open the event, followed by a PTSD Resolution update from CEO Charles Highett. Next, therapist Ezra Hewing will present on understanding trauma responses and how to help clients process traumatic memories.

Later, Bill Andrews will discuss how PTSD Resolution's therapy results fit within the NHS' new Real World Evidence framework for evaluating treatments. The morning concludes with case studies and a panel of therapists comparing their diverse ways of working.

After lunch and networking, Bill Andrews will share findings from Project-100, an ongoing study tracking PTSD Resolution's therapy outcomes across over 60 practitioners. Finally, Malcolm Hanson will outline emerging trends in military mental health and implications for treatment.

PTSD Resolution has access to a network of 200 therapists trained in Human Givens who deliver therapy to armed forces’ veterans, reservists and affected family members. Through funding research and training therapists, they aim to expand access to effective PTSD treatments.

Conference organiser Malcolm Hanson explained, “Our goal is to exchange knowledge and experience to continuously improve trauma therapy. We want to help attendees deepen their understanding of best practices so even more people can recover.”

Tickets are £75 and attendees will earn six CPD points from the UK Council for Psychotherapy. Registration is now open.

As PTSD Resolution's Director of Therapist Training, Malcolm Hanson said, “We're excited to welcome everyone dedicated to helping trauma victims reclaim their lives. This conference is ideal for exploring innovations in care and building our network of practitioners across the UK.”
