PTSD Resolution Stands with UK Veterans Following Trump's Afghanistan Remarks

PTSD Resolution, the charity dedicated to providing mental health treatment for UK Armed Forces veterans, reservists and their families, today expressed solidarity with all those affected by President Trump's comments regarding NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The 457 British service personnel who lost their lives in Afghanistan, and the thousands more who returned with physical and psychological wounds, deserve nothing but our deepest respect and gratitude. The suggestion that NATO allies remained off the front lines does not reflect the reality faced by those who served.

Colonel Tony Gauvain (Retired), Chairman of PTSD Resolution says:

"We have treated many veterans who served in Afghanistan, and we know first-hand the toll that conflict took on those who were very much on the front line. The mental health consequences of their service are real and lasting.

"Our therapists hear the stories of veterans who lost friends, who witnessed terrible things, and who carry those experiences with them every day. These are not the accounts of people who stayed back from danger.

Charles Highett, CEO of PTSD Resolution, said:

" Comments that question or diminish the service of those who served in conflict zones are deeply hurtful and can stir damaging emotional responses. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting every veteran, reservist and family member affected by military trauma. We will continue to provide prompt, effective treatment to all who need it, regardless of the political noise."

Since its founding, PTSD Resolution has treated 4,500 clients, delivering exceptional results with 82% of veterans, reservists and families completing their mental health treatment programme. The charity achieves a 79% reliable improvement rate and a 66% recovery rate for PTSD cases

The charity's network of therapists provides treatment that is free at the point of delivery, prompt, and available nationwide. Veterans can self-refer by calling 0300 302 0551.

PTSD Resolution urges anyone affected by the current debate, or by memories it may have stirred, to reach out for support.
