Lest We Forget Association Awards £80,000 Grant
ID: 110925

The Lest We Forget Association has awarded an £80,000 grant to PTSD Resolution, the UK charity providing free mental health treatment to veterans, reservists, and their families. The substantial funding will enable PTSD Resolution to accelerate service development, strengthen partnerships, and expand its reach to help more military families affected by trauma.
The grant represents one of the most significant single donations received by PTSD Resolution and will be strategically deployed across five key areas to maximise impact and build sustainable growth. This includes £40,000 for service development and research into Complex PTSD and moral injury, £20,000 each for sector partnerships and corporate engagement, £15,000 for The Big Give matched funding campaign, and £15,000 for targeted marketing.
PTSD Resolution, which has supported over 4,500 veterans and family members since its founding in 2009, delivers therapy through a nationwide network of 200 qualified Human Givens therapists. The charity achieves a 68% reliable improvement rate and is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services.
The charity's evidence-based approach is supported by rigorous research, including partnerships with King's College London and Nottingham Trent University. A landmark King's College study, published in Occupational Health magazine in March 2025, found that PTSD Resolution's therapy outcomes were comparable to NHS IAPT services despite working with a more distressed client group.
This research demonstrated sustained improvements at three-month follow-up, with the charity maintaining an 82% treatment completion rate. The organisation uses real-world evidence-based data collection, a method approved by NICE and NHS recognised clinical measures, including the PCL-5 (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist).
Charles Highett, CEO of PTSD Resolution, said: "This transformational grant from the Lest We Forget Association comes at a crucial time as we work to meet growing demand for our services. The funding will enable us to strengthen the evidence base for our approach, develop deeper partnerships with key organisations, and ultimately help more veterans and families access the prompt, effective treatment they deserve. We're deeply grateful for this vote of confidence in our work."
Colonel Anthony Gauvain (Retired), Chairman of PTSD Resolution, commented: "The Lest We Forget Association's generous support recognises the urgent need to address mental health challenges facing the military community. This grant will help us build on our proven track record of delivering life-changing therapy in an average of just seven sessions. By investing in research and partnerships, we can ensure our innovative approach reaches even more veterans who are struggling with trauma."
The Lest We Forget Association, established in 1922, has a century-long commitment to supporting disabled veterans and serving military personnel across the UK. The charity provides over 90 varied outings and entertainments each year to veterans in residential care and works in partnership with major military charities, including the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
Shaun Pascoe, Chair of Trustees at the Lest We Forget Association, said: "We are delighted to support PTSD Resolution's vital work helping veterans and their families overcome trauma. Their innovative approach and impressive outcomes align perfectly with our mission to support those who have served our country. This grant represents our confidence in their ability to make a real difference to veterans' lives and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have."
The funding will enable PTSD Resolution to leverage The Big Give Christmas Challenge in December 2025, where the £15,000 pledge will unlock a further £15,000 in public donations through matched funding. The charity will also use the grant to develop partnerships with Change Grow Live, Walking With The Wounded, and Op Courage, whilst strengthening corporate engagement particularly within the security and defence sectors.
PTSD Resolution's unique approach uses Human Givens Therapy, which focuses on meeting innate emotional needs without requiring clients to relive traumatic experiences in detail. Treatment is delivered free of charge and typically concludes in an average of seven sessions when both client and therapist agree no further support is needed.
The charity supports veterans from all conflicts, including those serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland, the Falklands, and earlier operations. Services extend to family members, veterans in the justice system, and those with complex needs including substance misuse issues.
