"My first traumatic event was in 1965 during the Commando course at Lympstone, Devon. I reacted badly to being left behind by my platoon. In my case there wasn't just one incident, rather, the trauma was over a period of eight years.
I found out about PTSD Resolution on breakfast television. It was different from other treatments; it was one-to-one rather than group therapy, there was no talking about specific incidents - and I wasn't categorised as being too old!
After the 'rewinding' session I was amazed and felt that it had been too easy. Over the next few days I had a sense of being changed - and also euphoric - when I realised that 'IT HAD GONE'. Therapy is non-residential so I could come home and practise between sessions. There were periods of readjustment and quiet reflection.
Compared with before I am much improved in all directions. I have control of my emotions, know what to do when in a stressful situation and am able to sleep well (for a lifelong insomniac). I am rid of trauma. I know that whatever happens in the future I have good coping mechanisms.
This has been a monumental experience for me, especially considering how long the problems had been embedded. I would seriously encourage any Veteran to take this course. It is highly moral, respectful, peaceful and hugely rewarding. For me the outcome was outstanding so please do trust in the process and the counsellor. They really know what it is to have been through trauma and the effects that it has on the individual."
