"I spent six months in Afghanistan's Helmand Province between August 2010 and February 2011. When I came home from tour, my brain was in constant overdrive and I felt annoyed all the time by how comfortable everybody's lives seemed to be. I started to drink heavily to help me calm down in the day and to sleep at night.
"Within three or four months, I had reduced my drinking and it seemed like I was getting better but I started to mouth off to people at work. My inappropriate anger got me into trouble a few times - once with a senior officer - and I got looked over for a promotion. Because everyone else was acting the same, I thought it was ok and I didn't seek help from the anybody in the army - I just cracked on as normal. It was a friend of mine who introduced me to PTSDR, he had been medically discharged with PTSD, and he passed their phone number to me.
"I gave them a call and, two days later, I was speaking with a therapist. My treatment has really calmed me down and I can talk about my job and active duty without freaking out. Even the creaks in my old house don't bother me anymore! My family have noticed a big difference too: I no longer detonate over nothing and we're all getting on so much better. I would definitely recommend PTSDR to other sufferers out there."
