"My traumatic experience occurred while on tour in Afghanistan in 2009 and the symptoms started not long after I got back. The memories got worse and worse, my drinking became heavier and I closed myself off from my friends and family. I also suffered from suicidal thoughts and, at one point, I even went AWOL. I eventually went back to work and told a nurse all about my state of mind. She told my Commanding Officer and, through him, I had some treatment which included EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). This didn't really help so I contacted Combat Stress who never got back to me. "It was my wife who found about PTSD Resolution and they arranged treatment for me on the same day as I called. I was really worried that I would have to describe my experiences in detail (and so relive them) just like I did with the EMDR. But this treatment was so different: my therapist never pushed me and I felt so much calmer. I especially liked the Guided Imagery, it helped me to concentrate and make the most of the Rewind technique.
