Our Story and Mission
PTSD Resolution Supports Armed Forces’ Veterans
About PTSD Resolution
PTSD Resolution assists servicemen, women, and family members over the age of 12 years who experience mental health issues following service in the UK armed forces.
We are accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists through the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS).
The programme is community-based, with treatment and support provided locally through a nationwide network of 200 therapists, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. PTSD Resolution helps Veterans and Reservists to resolve the mental health problems associated with military trauma that obstruct a normal range of family and work relationships.
PTSD Resolution has no salaried staff or assets. Donations fund therapy sessions, awareness campaigns, and essential research to ensure veterans and families know the help available to them.
How PTSD Affects Veterans
Trauma causes flashbacks, nightmares, anger, and depression - often leading to violence, alcohol and substance abuse, job loss, family breakdown, and even suicide.
The programme complements the work of other service charities by resolving mental health barriers to successful reintegration and settlement.
The Therapy Approach
The programme consists of one-to-one therapy sessions designed to relieve disabling symptoms. A single course of therapy is usually sufficient.
For those who engage with the therapeutic process and attend their appointments, PTSD Resolution achieves good outcomes, even in cases of long-standing trauma.
However, PTSD Resolution is not a mental health crisis service. Those in immediate danger should contact their GP, the mental health crisis team, or emergency services.

Confidential and Non-Intrusive Treatment
PTSD Resolution ensures confidentiality. Therapy is conducted without the need for clients to recount traumatic events. This protects the client from distress and therapists from exposure to disturbing incidents.
Research and Awareness
PTSD Resolution is engaged in research and raising awareness about PTSD. Many veterans, reservists, and their families are unaware of the disorder or its effects on their relationships and work life.
Accredited Human Givens Therapy
PTSD Resolution delivers personalised treatment exclusively through Human Givens therapists. All therapists are registered with the Human Givens Institute and accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
They are trained to deal quickly and effectively with anxiety, anger disorders, depression, stress, phobias, addiction, PTSD, and relationship problems.

Support Through the Armed Forces Covenant
By supporting PTSD Resolution, organisations can fulfill Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and the Armed Forces Covenant.
The ERS encourages employers to support the armed forces community and inspire others to do the same. The scheme offers bronze, silver, and gold awards for organisations that demonstrate support for the Armed Forces Covenant.

PTSD Resolution Statement of Purpose
PTSD Resolution helps ex-service men and women and their family members, over the age of 12 years, who have mental health problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder, following service in the UK armed forces. The service is available to all veterans of the UK armed services, TA, reservists and their dependents. We are an independent charity that aims to work with the people other services do not reach or have not been able to help. We work in prisons, for example, and we are generally able to work with traumatised people who have alcohol and drug problems, provided they are able to engage in therapy.
The programme involves a series of one-hour therapy sessions on a one-to-one, out-client basis, to relieve veterans of disabling symptoms. A single course of therapy is generally all that's required.
For those clients who engage with the therapeutic process and meet their appointments the outcomes from PTSD Resolution are good, even when the trauma is long-standing and severe.
However, PTSD Resolution is not a mental health crisis service. If you are in danger or have severe mental health problems please ring your GP; if there is a strong element of risk then contact the mental health crisis team, or if absolutely necessary the emergency services.
PTSD Resolution treatment meets a special need of veterans and reservists in that it can be carried out without the therapist or anyone else ever knowing about the events that caused the trauma. This ensures confidentiality, protects the client from further distress, and protects therapists from hearing about large numbers of often extremely disturbing incidents. These are important safeguards.
We are also doing new research and raising awareness of the causes and treatment of post traumatic stress. PTSD is little understood by veterans and reservists - or their families, friends or employers, the people who are often very much affected by the destructive behaviour associated with the condition.
PTSD Resolution delivers personalised treatment through Human Givens therapists, offering individual and, where appropriate, family sessions. All therapists are registered with the Human Givens Institute and accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA)
They are therefore trained in dealing effectively, and as quickly as possible, with all major forms of distress, including anxiety and anger disorders, depression, stress, phobias, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and relationship problems.
