Malcolm Hanson served in British Army from 1988 to 2007. He worked full time in the NHS from 2008 to 2017 as a psychotherapist and manager of a combined team of mental health and social care workers.

Whilst in the NHS he completed a masters degree in psychotherapy and a doctorate in social science.
