“There was no particular incident that triggered my PTSD. It was several months — or years — of working for a company that provided very little in the way of staff support. I would be dealing with incidents involving drugs, alcohol, abuse and violence — often risking my life without any support from the company. They would leave me to work alone in situations they never should have. It was during this time I first acknowledged the feeling of anxiety.”
“I tried to ignore the warning signs, believing things like this don’t happen to people like me. After feeling unwell for a while, I went to the GP — who sent me straight to hospital. My BP was dangerously high and they were concerned about the risk of a stroke. I still thought it was a problem with my body, rather than my mind.”
“My wife was looking for support for me, during one of my worst periods, when a work friend recommended the Human Givens Institute. That’s where we found PTSD Resolution. My therapist, Emma, always had a kind demeanour — and the support and advice I received has been very beneficial. I found mindfulness techniques were helpful at difficult times, and going through a pandemic with the constant risk of catching COVID made it a very challenging time.”
“I felt my journey to recovery had started — Emma helped me take that first step.”
“Today, I find I am able to look forward more easily, after spending so long living in the past with bad memories. Due to the support I have received from Emma, I am in the process of becoming a volunteer in a care home — and I’m hoping this step will lead on to me getting back into employment. Without PTSD Resolution, this would not have been possible.”
“I highly recommend PTSD Resolution to other people — the support I have received has changed my life. I plan to support the charity through my lodge and I look forward to working together in the future.”
