"I felt empty when I came back from a tour of Afghanistan in 2011. I thought this was a normal response to being in the army but I developed more symptoms and, one year later, was diagnosed with PTSD by Combat Stress. They gave me treatment which focused on talking about my past experiences and, from time to time, one of their Community Psychiatric Nurses dropped in to see me.
"But I wasn't getting any better: in fact, I remained angry all the time and I lashed out verbally and sometimes physically to people, even to strangers. I was very disturbed by loud noises - even the sound of high heels on a floor reminded me of the army, of a magazine being loaded.
"So I cut myself off from people, didn't trust anyone and generally felt like I was trapped behind a brick wall. My wife found out about PTSD Resolution through Google and their therapy - the Rewind Technique - really opened my eyes to the extent of my problems. Their treatment really worked and now I feel more social, trusting of others and can talk about the events which traumatised me without getting angry and feeling guilty.
"I would highly recommend PTSD Resolution to other sufferers out there and I think it would be great to bring the Rewind Technique to other organisations who do not currently use it. I also recommend advertising your services more widely, perhaps to soldiers who are in the process of leaving the army."
